IT Services Department

We are seeking to appoint a new IT Technical Lead to take forward the design and operation of the University''s networks, and firewall services. This is a senior role, and you will work as part of a close-knit team with other talented and key staff that share a passion for ensuring a scalable, high performing and secure infrastructure.

This role focuses on the centralised and client network. Comprising of the intersite and internet fibre, the Firewall, core and local switching, physical and virtual networks, and the University Wi-Fi. The network infrastructure comprises of roughly 100 switches, 250 Wi-Fi access points and multiple Firewalls across two busy campuses. The post holder will be key in the development of these, and determining whatever might be the best technologies for the University''s future.

You will have an innovative and enthusiastic approach as you work across project teams. You will work with developers and professionals across each of the IT teams including Service Development, Corporate Systems and IT Operations. The projects you work on will require regular interaction with external experts and contractors, as well as key stakeholders and the service users throughout the University.

The University is collegiate in its approach, in this role you can expect to be visible, involved in a wide range of interesting projects and to work collaboratively with academics and managers as well as with other members of the IT Team. The post may be located at either of the University''s Campuses.
