The University of Portsmouth (Portsmouth Business School) urgently needs to appoint a permanent Teaching Fellow in Strategic Studies, Air Power Studies, War Studies or similar, to work within the department providing academic support to the Royal Air Force.  Located at the RAF College, Cranwell, Lincolnshire, this appointment is integrated fully with the University and Business School thus supporting personal development and subject-specific research. You will hold a relevant Masters’-level qualification, have broad experience, including experience of  high quality teaching and, ideally, some military experience, and be keen to broaden your teaching to include additional elements of the core curriculum (such as politics, ethics, defence policy, leadership and air power studies). You will enjoy working in a dynamic environment and delivering to a broad cross-section of students; experience of delivering blended/distance learning and practical student-lead learning events in the field would be advantageous.

You must be willing to undergo MoD security clearance, and act to retain that clearance, and to follow a strict dress code at the place of work. You must be available to begin your induction at the RAF College, Cranwell, on 14 August 2017.

Interviews will take place at the Royal Air Force College, Cranwell, Sleaford, Lincolnshire, NG34 8HG. The assessment process will consist of a Powerpoint supported demonstration lecture (15 minutes presentation followed by 15 minute Q&A) and interview panel; the subject for the demonstration lecture is “The Value of Professional Military Education in the 21st Century”.
