Interview date:  03 August 2017

The Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries provides a world-class internationally attractive university environment for future leaders and contributors to, and beyond, traditional disciplines - with a remit to engage in local-to-global creative, cultural and digital activities.

Possessing a distinctive and influential academic portfolio in the sector, the faculty wishes to build on its excellent track-record to further embed at the forefront of its vision engagement with external partners to deliver high-value collaborative, entrepreneurial and vocational activities.

To be a key driver of this ambition, the University of Portsmouth wishes to recruit an ambitious Collaboration Manager to work with the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries as a member of the University’s Research and Innovation Services’ Collaboration Manager Team.

The Collaboration Manager’s role is to broker relationships, build consortia, and identify high-value income streams through engagement with external partners. Specifically, the post-holder will initiate and assist the Faculty in activities that contribute to achieving their income and academic targets through, for example: identification of both internal and external opportunities, concept and bid preparation, developing partnerships with funders and external organisations, and facilitating new business engagement opportunities. Key activities will include: collaborative and applied research, consultancy, commercialisation, CPD, short courses and the use of facilities.

This will be underpinned by an understanding of academic and business environments, with knowledge of the current opportunities across the areas of creative technology, media, design and architecture.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be required, as will an understanding of the funding opportunities available to support knowledge exchange activities.  Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate experience of supporting and drafting successful applications for external funding.   Applicants are likely, but not necessarily, to have worked within an academic environment.  The role will be supporting different groups and, although knowledge of the creative and cultural industries is not a pre-requisite, those with an understanding of research and innovation in this sector will be particularly welcomed.
