Design and development of software relating to the products of the company with supporting hardware where required. Evaluation and improvement of existing designs in accordance with given targets of time scale, cost and technical performance Key Responsibilities To work individually or as a member of a project team, as directed by the Manager or his nominated deputy, in pursuance of the technical performance, time scale and cost targets for a project ·To have a good range of software engineering skills to include requirements analysis, software architecture, design, programming (principally in C/C++), verification and validation ·Fault finding and fixing of software faults ·To write concise and clear documentation General Tasks ·To maintain daily records of work in progress and to prepare technical documentation in accordance with the documentsor others as dictated ·To perform tasks that fall within the general requirements of the Company as and when directed by the Manager ·To work effectively within the organisational framework of the company as a whole, reporting on matters outside the limits of authority ·To undertake project duties (estimating, proposal preparation, planning, management, progressing, cost control, supervision etc.) as directed ·To undertake Logistic Support for existing projects ·To provide occasional support off-site or at Customer locations, which may include installation of equipment, trials support, training etc. ·To travel both within the UK and overseas, including travel/work outside normal office hours as necessary and reasonably required ·To represent the Company when meeting customers and suppliers in a presentable, informed and courteous manner ·To maintain an awareness of current software and hardware (to a lesser extent) techniques and products so that these may be adopted as and when necessary ·To maintain an awareness of related product developments To be aware of legislation, codes of practice and operating standards associated with the duties, as would reasonably be expected and ensure proper compliance with them ·To undertake other duties as identified by the Business Manager, which are in line with the interests and overall development of the Systems Business Unit, or the company as a whole Knowledge Requirements ·Familiar with Windows and Linux operating systems ·Cross platform C/C++ Programming
·Familiarity with UDP/TCP Sockets ·Multi-threaded coding ·Experience of SQL databases ·Use of SQL Server ·Use of Visual Studio ·Qt GUI programming ·Use of modern version control systems ·Knowledge of scripting languages Personal Specification/Essential Qualities Able to work as part of a team or independently as required ·To have a systematic approach to problem solving ·Be presentable and courteous ·Timekeeping and punctuality
