Experienced Systems Tester required to strengthen the test team and introduce fresh thinking by analysing current test practices and finding areas for improvement. Offer day-to-day direction as team-leader for a group of test engineers. Responsibilities ·Champion software test process/best practice ·Produce appropriate documentation to be used as reference by all software test engineers and stakeholders ·Research new tools and technologies and recommend ways to implement them into new test strategies applicable to the Parkeon test teams ·Be familiar with the use of automated test harnesses ·Write automated test cases, as appropriate, to ensure the adequate coverage for fixes and to ensure regression-free deliverables ·Undertake on site and in house end to end system test activities
·Undertake product "black box" testing ·Closely monitor submissions to test to ensure sufficient "up=stream" testing has taken place ·Frequently review and maintain correct balance between automated and manual testing ·Design and develop test scenarios that accurately gauge product quality ·Provide KPIs to interested parties with respect to failed submissions to test, issues encountered and test escapes ·Maintain generic test documentation and offer guidance on any bespoke test documentation ·Be familiar with product development roadmaps and feedback suggestions for product improvement ·Periodically confirm that internal test instructions and documentation remain accurate
·Maintain clear test records, indicating hardware/software versions and environment. Note any trends that become evident ·Diagnose and produce comprehensive reports of faults found ·Be prepared to provide second line support to the Technical Support department as required ·Remain familiar with the relevant industry standards as required ·Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues ·Work with peers in Development, Program Management and Design teams to plan and prioritise the test strategy to ensure timely delivery ·Own the end to end quality of a set of SharePoint experiences as a clear interface and point of reference for other teams ·Contribute to interdepartmental communication in order to improve awareness of the project and customer needs and the creation of a team spirit within and outside their own work responsibility. ·Contribute to a service minded and client-oriented approach and promptly respond to external and internal correspondence with the service of the client in focus. ·Actively contribute to improve the quality of both products and services by working in accordance with internal and external quality standards Experience: ·The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of software testing, tools and practices together with proven leadership skills. Customer facing experience is also desired. ·Hands on experience and specific examples of successful process improvement are required. Education: ·This position is ideally filled by an individual with a computing/software development related degree. However, the candidate's previous experience in a software/system test environment is of the utmost important. ISEB/ISTQB/BCS accreditation desirable Core skills: ·MS Windows, MS Office·SQL experience·Working knowledge of networking and associated protocols ·Very good knowledge of PCs, Windows and PC Networks·Knowledge of CISCO device configuration is advantageous ·Team Foundation Server knowledge is advantageous Additional Skills and Abilities ·Knowledge of software development and test processes and best practices ·Analytical problem solving and passion for quality together with excellent testing aptitude ·Excellent written and verbal communication skills ·Good interpersonal and communication skills ·Ability to work in a demand led environment showing both adaptability and problem solving skills ·Must be prepared to work extra hours as required in order to achieve stakeholder satisfaction Must strive for quality through meticulous testing and attention to detail ·Passion for engineering excellence through automation and process improvements ·Full UK driving licence required
